Five steps. Three of them are things the software refuses to do, and those are the ones worth reading.
Lecture slides, a chapter, a transcript, your notes. Mark the textbook and the syllabus as master documents and they are read first. Page numbers are kept the whole way through.
Every proposed card carries a sentence and a slide. The sentence is checked against your file. Curly quotes and line breaks are forgiven; a sentence that is not there is not.

The PDF is read page by page with its page numbers kept. Lovely proposes cards, and each card carries the sentence it came from and its slide. That sentence is matched against the file before the card reaches you; a card that fails the match is not made. You then add, fix or skip each card, or take the whole batch.
Because a deck missing a third of a lecture looks exactly like a complete one. The slides that produced no card are listed by title before you add anything, and slides that are only a diagram are set aside rather than reported as missed.
No. You can add a whole batch at once, or go card by card with add, fix and skip. Every card shows its slide, so you can check any one of them when you want to.
No. The part of the software that adds cards to a deck only runs for a person at the screen. That is a property of how it is built, not a setting.
